Quinny Zapp Footmuff - What is a Baby Footmuff?

!±8± Quinny Zapp Footmuff - What is a Baby Footmuff?

Ok, so we're not going to be specific and talk about only the Quinny Zapp footmuff - just about every pushchair (strollers to our US cousins) manufacturer makes accessories for their travel systems.

Ok, for the uninitiated; "What is a footmuff?"

Simple. Think of those fleecey, puffer jackets you've got tucked away ready for the cold winter days. Now make it full sized and scale it down to fit your child. Do you honestly think you're going to comfortably fit your baby into the pushchair wearing one of those? I thought not.

The problem with most travel systems on the market is that they're designed to be comfortable. This means your baby should fit snugly into the seat but most of the big names such as Bugaboo and Quinny have built their pushchairs with warmer weather in mind. This means minimal clothing to keep your little one cool.

Most models do have extendable straps but if the weather picks up the only way you can cool baby down is to take off their fleece suit. Unclick, undress, back in the seat. Then it gets cold again...

To avoid the problem of constantly dressing and undressing your infant, most parents rely on a combination of blankets and jackets to keep baby warm. Problem solved, to a degree. Have you ever noticed how much children can wriggle in their stroller? Especially when they're grumpy and irritable. Blankets are easily kicked off and you end up constantly stopping to cover up your child back up. No wonder those shopping trips can be such a daunting prospect.

To be fair, most of the problems associated with keeping your kids warm aren't confined to a few travel systems. But I'll give them their dues; many manufacturers, such as Quinny and Bugaboo, have thought seriously about how to keep baby warm in the cold weather. This is where the footmuff comes in.

Let's not get the footmuff confused with a fur lined booty; most modern footmuffs are a solution that is designed to encase your baby in a warm, fleecey cocoon. All you get to see is the smiling face of your little cherub. The beauty of the most modern designs is the ease of access. Products like the Quinny Zapp footmuff are designed to be clipped into a pushchair but offer a full length zip that allows easy access when it's time to put them back into their car seat.

If you think about it, this is problem one of the best solutions available when it comes to keeping stroller-bound kids warm. Admittedly, these footmuffs aren't the cheapest options available but, for the sake of convenience, they will save your frayed nerves and make life easier whether you're taking your pushchair into town or heading off into the country.
